Report 3.20 Career Technical Education Completers – Student List

(Updated 04/15/2024)

Description: Lists Career Technical Education (CTE) Completers and the Pathway they are pursuing. Also provides code indicators on these students.

Report Type: Snapshot / (EOY 1)

Security Roles: EOY 1 Reports

Data As Of:

  • If ODS version, user defined
  • If Snapshot version, July 1 – June 30

Basic selection criteria:

  • Enrollment at a school any time during the Report Period
  • Enrollment Status Code = 10, 20, or 30
  • Grade Level = 07-12
  • Course Completion record (CRSC Field 9.07) must map to a state course code within the pathway code reported from SCTE file (SCTE Field 11.13)
  • SCTE Pathway Code (Field 11.13) and SCTE Pathway Completion Academic Year ID (Field 11.14) are used to determine Industry Sector. Using Valid Code Combos – Pathway-Industry Sector tab
  • Only students who have completed a CTE Course and who have an associated SCTE record should be included in this report.

Student Data Rules:

  • A student may have more than one CTE Pathway Code for the Reporting Year. All SCTEs are examined to determine the number of unique CTE Pathway Codes for each student. For each unique CTE Pathway Code value where the Enrollment Period overlaps the Reporting Year of the SCTE containing the CTE Pathway Code (Field 11.13), count the student in that Pathway. Specific/Exception rules:
  • A student who has different CTE Pathways (SCSC & SCTE) at the same school during the Reporting Period should be counted for each CTE Pathway.
  • A student who has the same CTE Pathway (SCSC & SCTE) at the same school during the Reporting Period should only be counted once for that CTE Pathway.

  • At the school level, a student who has the same or different CTE Pathways for two different schools within the same LEA (both schools hold a SCSC & SCTE) during the Reporting Period should be counted for each CTE Pathway (count in both schools).

  • At the school level, a student who has an SCSC at one school and SCTE at another school during the Reporting Period (within the same Reporting LEA and for the same SCTE Pathway), the student should only count once at the school where the student is primarily enrolled.

    • In the case where the student has two primary enrollments during the Reporting Period, and one school holds the SCSC and the other school holds the SCTE, the school where the student took the Capstone course (SCSC/CRSC) should receive the Completer count
  • Only one record per State Course Code per SSID should populate. If the student is counted in multiple pathways (in 3.19 report) as listed in the previous section, each of those records should show up on this report.

  • For counting within a Core Indicator, unduplicate at the State Course Code and School level.
  • For Nontraditional Course Enrollment only, count students where student gender = gender specified in CTE Non-Traditional Gender for State Group Course Code in each course for which a nontraditional gender has been established.

Report Filters: Filters can be selected resulting in only totals for the selected filter being displayed – legend on bottom of last page of report states which filter/s were selected

NOTE: Default = Y ‘Y’ value indicates that the course is CTE related, the teacher has an appropriate CTE credential, AND that the student reported has a valid SCTE record and a related course completion record

REMINDER: CTE completers do not need the High Quality CTE Course Indicator equal to Y in the course record to appear on the CA Dashboard. All CTE courses will be accounted for in the dashboard. Flagging a course with High Quality CTE Course Indicator equal to Y is only needed if the LEA is receiving Perkins funding, which requires CTE courses are taught by CTE credentialed teachers.

Note: For AY 23-24+, it includes students with an overlapping Eligible and Participating SWD record.
