Tribal Foster Youth

A dependent child of the court of an Indian tribe, consortium of tribes, or tribal organization who is the subject of a petition filed in the tribal court pursuant to the tribal court's jurisdiction in accordance with the tribe's law, provided that the child would also meet one of the descriptions in Section 300 of the Welfare and Institutions Code describing when a child may be adjudged a dependent of the juvenile court.

Tribal Foster Youth Guidance Document

The Tribal Foster Youth Guidance document was designed to provide guidance and support to LEAs regarding the addition of tribal foster youth to the LCFF definition of foster youth. The document provides guidance and resources around data collection and reporting requirements, guidance on how to ensure these youth are identified at the local level, and links to tools on a number of different resources and web pages.
