SENR0320E1

Missing Student School Transfer Code for District of Choice Transfer

Submission: EOY1
Status: Active
Severity: Fatal
Error Type: CDD

ACTIVE DEFECTS:

None

ERROR DESCRIPTION:

Student School Transfer Code must be populated if Student has an enrollment status of primary or short-term and Reporting LEA is a District of Choice AND the student's most recent prior enrollment is in a California public school in a different district.

FIELDS VALIDATED:

  • 1.04 - Reporting LEA
  • 1.30 - Student School Transfer Code
  • 1.23 - Enrollment Start Date

SUGGESTED RESOLUTION:

Understanding the Error:

A student has a SENR (exit code N470 is excluded) that overlaps the EOY 1 Reporting From and Report Through Date based on Enrollment Start Date, has an enrollment status of primary (10) or short-term (30), and is also transferring into a District of Choice* from another California public school in a different district and the Student School Transfer Code is missing.

Suggested Resolution:

1) Populate the Student School Transfer Code (1.30) for the student transferring into a District of Choice LEA from another California public school district. 2) For students who are matriculating from a "feeder district", select the "Other Transfer" category (Student School Transfer Code 6). This category includes students who voluntarily transfer to a county office of education school and were not transferred for reasons outlined under the “Disciplinary COE School Transfer” code. It also applies to students who establish residency because their parents work in the area, students with disabilities transferring as specified in their Individualized Education Program (IEP), students transferring to a charter school outside their district of residence, and students who matriculate into or otherwise establish residency within the district.
