Absence Rate

The ratio of full days a student is absent from a school to total days expected to attended. The absence rate accounts for days absent due to out-of-school suspension, excused absences (non-suspension), and unexcused absences (non-suspension).

Note: If the filter on report 14.1 selects a particular absence type other than All, then the formula only includes the absent type selected.

Note: This calculation would exclude those STAS records where Exemption Indicator = Y

Computation

((Days Absent Due to Out-of-School Suspension [Field 13.17] + Days Absent Excused Non-Suspension [Field 13.19] + Days Absent Unexcused Non-suspension [Field 13.20] + Incomplete Independent Study Days [Field 13.21]) divided by (Expected Attendance Days [Field 13.15]) multiplied by 100.

Note: If the absent type filter is selected on the applicable report, then the formula only includes the absent type selected. For example, if out-of-school suspension is selected the formula becomes the following:

((Days Absent Due to Out-of-School Suspension [Field 13.17]) divided by (Expected Attendance Days [Field 13.15]) Multiplied by 100

Note: If the absent type filter is selected on the applicable report, then the formula only includes the absent type selected.

For example, if out-of-school suspension is selected the formula becomes the following:

((Days Absent Due to Out-of-School Suspension [Field 13.17] ) divided by Expected Attendance Days [Field 13.15] ) Multiplied by 100
